maxgooday
A client has asked me if its possible to make a still visual into a 3D image (like at the cinemas) as well as animations. Is this possible with vray and 3DS Max, I've tried to have a Google but not much coming up!! Anyone got some ideas on how you would go about it? Thanks, Max
Scott Schroeder
I'm sure it is possible with Max/Vray but you are better off doing it in post. Scott Schroeder
EDIT: Also, camera project from Video Copilot if you have to stick with Max: http://www.videocopilot.net/blog/?s=projection And even our very own CGArchitect: http://www.cgarchitect.com/2005/05/animated-camera-mapping-by-chris-bullen1
maxgooday
Thanks for your reply Scott. I'm more after making a still image or animation pop out of the screen. I would prefer to do this with post work in either After Effects or Photoshop?
Scott Schroeder
Yeah, if you are going for just popping a still out of the screen I would probably do it in After Effects. You can draw all your masks and stuff in Photoshop then import that into After Effects.
Frosty
I've done a few of these in 3D. Its not that hard to do a red/blue split view out of two renders.
Francisco Penaloza
VRay has a stereo camera functions, it will render 2 images of your shot, one for left eye one for right eye, then compile them in After Effect or Photoshop to create your stereo shot, now this is limited to be use with Red/Blue glasses, to create Polarized 3d Effect you may need special hardware to project your animation, never don it my self, only red/blue stereo images.
