JustinTuaylou
It looks to me like the image is too low contrast, because there is too much light bouncing around off the white and reflective surfaces. Try giving the objects with the gaps a darker material and see what happens. Also, play around with exposure settings, lights settings and placement. Corey Beaulieu
I agree with Justin. If you are just doing a study render, try using a dirt map as your override. It could better show off the gaps. You could also try a toon-shade from the environment and effects menu. edit. Just saw you are using Mental Ray. An Ink and Paint material is the Toon shader and Ambient Occlusion is the dirt. Edited January 29, 2013 by CoreyMBeaulieu
Crazy Homeless Guy
If it is a still image then you should paint them darker in Photoshop. You would have been done in the amount of time that it took you to post your question.
Francisco Penaloza
Yes the lighting is very strong in the scene, that plus a low settings in your FG and AA wont show fine details. In your exposure try to use a burn value of 18 or 15, also do not use pure white colors, make then a little gray, if you are using A&D materials or pro materials check the option of AO this will enhance all those small gaps, increase your AA values for final render and also your point of density in Final Gather. That should do. Remember low FG values with high interpolation render faster and give clean GI but diminish details.
