andrewmapley
What is the production process for an architectural visualisaton project? (interior and exterior) I come from a 3D design background so ive been taught to create everything within the scene and that's how ive been working so far. ie modelling and texturing the room, object with rooms, objects outside etc. However the more I look at other peoples work, the more im thinking im just making things difficult for myself. Obviously if the client wants a copy of an existing room/building or parts of the room/building then things might have to be modeled but in general does everyone simply create the architecture and use existing models for the rest of the scene or is everything made to spec??? Thanks Andy
Corey Beaulieu
You build what you have to. Keeping a Library is essential to getting images out in an efficient way, but you build what you have to. Trees and Plants I would buy a package of good models and then work on creating a bag of iconic and recognizable furniture. Being able to recognize and object and have proportions to reference go a long way in creating a well balanced image. Now-days HDRI lighting has become a popular choice and often times that mean rendering in the sky, but you can also render it black as alpha and composite a photograph for outside the window. Ther is little need to model your background.
