danb4026
I currently use Forest Pack Pro to populated my scenes and am very happy with it. I was wondering if adding a tool like Carbon Scatter would add enough additional functionality to warrant spending the money. Does anyone have experience with both, with insights into the differences and advantages of one over the other?
Trick
I have been using FPP since a long time and never had problems or crashes and it has all the functionality you want. Better: it's fully integrated. Just added CarbonScatter to my toolset a few days ago and until now I am not that satisfied: it uses it's own interface - so not really integrated, more of a menu entry with it's own MODAL interface that shows a preview inside the max viewport - , 500K+ instances (even on a 64GB RAM system) crashes Max at the end, the preview system is really lacking - you can only set a max number of instances where some more flexibility like only showing nth instances would be welcome .... there's more, but I'm still looking into it.... You can see exactly how things work by dl-ing the trial Edited February 4, 2013 by Trick
danb4026
Thanks Erik. I did download the trial and have been playing a bit with it. I have not found a reason to spend the money just yet, waiting to hear some profound reason from an experienced user to sway me.
