ciananpuckett
Hey there, first post, so please be gentle. I'm using 3DS Max to create geometry for a game project that I have shelved and re-shelved over and over. So now, I am trying to create a Dyson Sphere (for those that don't know, I will put it simple: A shell around an entire solar system). So, I will get right to the point: 1) Lighting: How should I go about this? I would like to create an actual Light-Emitting Sun, if at all possible. However, comma, when I tried before, I ended up with photometrics being blocked out when I activated shadow mapping. 2) Solar Shade: To Create artificial day\night cycles on the inner skin of the Sphere. How would I make it so the lighting above would work with that? Thanks in advance. Bonus points if you can give me a step-by-step.
Nic H
1) lighting - try using a spot light or maybe a skylight or a sphere light 2) use a map of a day night timelapse and animate the lights accordingly 3) game is finished 4) profit
ciananpuckett
Hey, sorry, just need a little clarification. By sphere do you mean Photometric>Sphere? Or what?
