branskyj
Hi all, recently I followed an online tutorial for 3DS Max where Arch&Design materials where used. I got some stunning results and then wanted to recreate the scene for VRay. I tried right clicking in Max's viewport and exporting the materials as VRay but got lots of errors. So I decided to give VRay Material Converter 2.5 a chance. With it I converted the materials and when I switched to VRay renderer got similar (not as great but still)results as with Mental Ray. I just don't know how to preview the converted from Mental Ray to VRay materials. If I click onto an object with the color picker I still get the Arch&Design material in the slot even after the conversion. Is that norrmal? I thought that once I convert to VRay materials I will have access to them in the material editor. I just want to tweak them a little bit more. Thanks a lot, guys. Andres del Castillo
That is because V-ray works with Arch&Design materials. You don`t need to convert it. Consequently, it is normal.
branskyj
How stupid of me- I assumed VRay does not work with Arch&Design materials and went ahead and converted the materials anyway. Then hit render. saw the result and decided to tweak the materials further (the result was not exactly the same as the one with Mental Ray). I just rendered the hole thing without any conversion and got the same result Sorry and thanks a lot Andres.
