Video card advice: Gigabyte GV-R797TO-3GD ATI HD 7970 GHz Edition

Hi Guys,

 

sorry to ask but i'm not a hardware guru and am needing a new video card, have been reading around and it seems that the 7970 gets more recommendations than say a GTX 680...?

 

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the above card or can recommend something that they feel would be better for a similar price?

 

or does anyone know where to get a new GTX 580 3Gb? as i'd have that over either of the above...?

 

I use 3ds max, vray, autocad, photoshop. I dont do my RT rendering and am unlikely to do any in the very near future.

 

any advice is greatly appreciated.
