Description:

Hi Everyone. I wanted to create a simplistic indoor scene that would help me focus on my lighting and texturing skills. I wanted to combine a variety of surfaces; wood, metal, water, rug and so on. I welcome your thoughts and advise to help me push my skills further. I would like to get to a point when my renderings are on the side of photo realism.

Its a good concept. Im not too sure on the amount of bump you are using on the wall to the left. Seems a bit too bumpy too me. Also my attention went straight to that glowing light haze. I honestly am not sure if its a good or a bad thing or how you might want to go about it. Might be too much perhaps? Also the wood seems too saturated. You're rendering in Mental Ray I gather? haha get it? Um... are you tinkering with you're gamma?

Other wise I like the idea you're going for here. The lighting in general looks pretty good and congrats on youre fur carpet. I was messing with that for the first time in months and cant seem to get a decent render out of it I liked :)

Hi Kirt,

I would want to suggest working on the light coming down......I think they are very focused straight....would be better to have them spread out into a soft arc on wall. The vibrant light for TRANQUILITY, would add to the scene if its as subdued. Other than that I liked the scene composition.

Good Luck.

Thank you Jason and Sachin for your input; it helps to have other eyes take a look at your work every once in a while! I was attempting to go for a cool water wall look with the TRANQUILITY sign behind it. I am still trying to play around with it. I started a water study so I can hopefully come up with a good solution for the wall. Jason, I had some trouble with getting the rug to look good as well but I found some great tips in the latest issue of 3D World magazine, titled The Future of Arch-Viz.
