Chris MacDonald
It's about Rhythm & Hues going bankrupt, everyone showing support for the 400+ CGI artists & technicians that lost their jobs overnight, yet the last film they made (life of pi) was oscar winning and a box office success. The green is a reference to green screen, without the cgi artists, that's all modern films would be left with.

Chris MacDonald
Seems to me there's a huge amount of unrest in the cgi community, and understandably so. I can't imagine running a business operating a couple of hundred staff with ~5% margins (even when your staff are putting in ludicrous hours), that's cutting it pretty damn fine and all it takes is one overseas bidder to undercut you and you've suddenly got an enormous workforce and no means to pay them. The problem it seems is cheap labour from the other side of the globe; you can't compete with studios that don't really have a minimum wage and pirated softwares. Sketchrender
Couldn't agree more. When other countries have little to know piracy laws it screws the countries that do. The big studios have no morals when it comes to fare play, and making money. Phil Seems to me there's a huge amount of unrest in the cgi community, and understandably so. Devin Johnston
+1 The Viz community has been experiencing the same thing for years, cheep Chinese and Indian companies that work for pennies on the dollar. In that kind of situation it's extremely hard to complete, quality of imagery becomes less of a concern when a company can realize such huge savings. Maybe now that it's affecting some of the big dogs people will take notice and do something about it.
