aaronnordstrom
Hey all, I need to get a hidden line isometric of a 3D Max model. In the past I've used autocad's Flatshot command, but it's not working for me at the moment. Can somebody tell me what I'm missing? 1) Convert all objects in 3DS to editable polys 2) Export as .dwg 3) Open in Autocad 4) Flatshot Right now it states that flatshot can't be used because all of my objects are polyface meshes. That's my problem...help!? Aaron
CliveG
Right as you've had no better replies, I'll offer what I can on the subject... I think AutoCAD only really likes solids for flatshot. I don't think there's a way to make that command work for you. The only other way I know to flatten your models in AutoCAD are the old school methods allied to plotting or printing your scene to a file and then interpreting that file back into a vector drawing. There are two methods I know of for this, plotting to an HPGL file or probably the easier one, plot to a pdf file and then use something like Adobe Illustrator to open that pdf file and export it to a dwg from there. You will lose accuracy this way as it is taking a potentially large scene and reducing it to the size of the paper you choose (go as big as you can obviously). But you'll get some vectors that look like your scene in AutoCAD anyway. Hope this helps.
aaronnordstrom
I finally got it to work. The DWG has to be exported as 2007. I was doing 2004.
