mattlewis
I've been working in Cinema 4d for a couple years now for motion design, but as I've been getting more and more into architectural visualization I've been looking into 3ds because it seems better suited for this kind of work. Has anyone made this transition? I'm wondering how different things are between the two, and how steep the learning curve would be? If anyone has any good learning resources or info it would be appreciated!
branskyj
Hey Matt, about 8-9 years ago I was in your shows. Couldn't wrap my head around how intimidating Max's UI looked in comparison to Cinema 4D's. I am still using 3DS Max now (exclusively) and have NO PROBLEMS with Max's UI. In all fairness I tried Cinema 4D the otehr day ( I had to convert soma Cinema 4d files into Max files) and the UI of Cinema 4D is still quite beautiful. My advise- start using whatever the industry uses the most. If you want to have higher chances at getting a job, do some research what the companies require the most in terms of 3D software. Just 8-9 months ago I went through that route and here in UK it appears companies want (for arch viz at least) 3DS Max and VRay/ Mental Ray. As for the UI- you will get used to it, no doubt. Good luck to you no matter what you choose.
