gediminasstasaitis
Hey everyone, Does anyone know how to make 3d diagrams like this? Seems to be some sort of 3d programme that you can export vectors with and the extra touch on illustrator. The thing i don't know how to do is how do you export the hidden linework (the rooms, stairs etc. inside). Accuracy, proportions of the inside, outside spaced are also quite important. Your help and info is greatly appreciated.
H A
I use a combination of SketchUp and Illustrator when doing this kind of work. You'll find loads of tutorials on the subject.

gediminasstasaitis
The tip sounds useful thanks Ravi Patel, although i think i would get raster image which i would need to trace over later, which is fine for less detailed things. Sorry about the question, I'll try to clarify it, the main question is how do you make accurate models and export transparent vector lines so you can then later edit them in illustrator for clarity. I tried to export 2d pdf images from sketchup, but the only ones that work are wireframe, which when you have a lot of lines you get confused..when you try to export hidden line: back edges or x-ray (which is more clear) it doesn't export the hidden lines, just the mass that you see, that's my main problem..maybe its playing around with the settings? Are there any tutorials on this because i searched the web a bit and cant seem to find anything that would be spot on.
H A
Export 2 eps files; one with the shaded model and one with the wireframe model. Combine these two in Illustrator and you have the best of the both.
bilyanajul
Hello everyone, I've got a similar question based on a bit different example. I would like to ask you, how could one make such diagrams with these nice soft shadows, soft material, illumination color effects, color blending, transparent arrows, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
daryljones
Adding transparent arrows, colour overlays etc is pretty simple in photoshop.
Dejan Sparovec
I would probably do a simple render with ambient occlusion or just a skylight and color it and add the details in photoshop. Outlines are simple to achieve with vray toon effect.
