Hopefully they fix the 2013 Nitrous bug that sometimes doesn't fit the background image to your viewport no matter what you select. It random crops into it depending on it's mood. I don't want to jump through 28 hoops just to use a new feature because Autodesk can't fix previous issues.

How long does it usually take after the release date for the bigger plugins like V-Ray to release a compatible version of their plugins?

Chaos group are usually really excellent with this. It's usually within 2 weeks to a month. Every night they do a recompile of the latest code, which they are quite happy to send out, should you not be patient enough to wait for the official release, or require it for a tight deadline.

More new stuff:http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/16/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-AA81EA1A-B4E1-4B47-B3AE-7C4AD62E24FF.htm,topicNumber=d30e3789,hash=GUID-F10EB01A-C1B8-422F-AE10-5AC53854C9EE

And, oh holy God, has Hell frozen over? "Also, Isolate no longer zooms viewports by default. To zoom as well as isolate, choose Scene Isolate Zoom Extents On Isolate before you isolate an object or selection." Autodesk must have gotten a brain in the last year.

Is it? We are on PU6 and it's still there.

There are some good features coming but I'm not overly impressed. This year's winner was Maya's modeling tools.

I was talking about Max 2014. Don't know wether this will go back to 2013 in another PU or not

Generally speaking , this (Max 2014) is not a SDK breaking release, so most ( if not all ) Max 2013 plugins will work on Max 2014. Possibly some installers might get confused, but codewise Max 2013 plugins should be compatible ...

Regarding Vray: they already have ( and for some time now ) specific 2014 builds available. AFAIK the only problem were the installation paths etc...

I received notification from 3ds max user voice that "Use axis center as start snap point" has been returned to it's pre Max 2011 behavior by default.
