monkeyboy
hey, im modelling a table with plastic chairs hanging attached to the table, like you can see on the attached image. Now, i want to meshsmooth the chairpart, but not the tablepart. How can i do this? i have searched the internet for partial meshsmooth, but nowhere found a got hint or tutorial to manage this. can anyone help me? grtz monkey
skogskalle
Add an "edit mesh" modifier to the whole mesh. Select the vertices of the chair part. Add a meshsmooth modifier. Uncheck "Apply to whole mesh" hope it helps! // Kalle
monkeyboy
hey skogskalle, it did work indeed, but as you can see on the image, de seat is organic, de tabletop itself not. on geometry de tabletop does not deform when applying the meshsmooth, but in shading it also takes some smoothing. can i turn it off somehow? STRAT
sub select the table faces and clear all smoothing groups from them
Brian Cassil
You can do what Strat suggested or you can add the smooth modifier and check auto smooth. My guess is that the default settings will work for what you have.
