Description:

Hello, this is one of my first 3D Exterior projects. I am nearing the point where I am starting to be happy with how my project is looking but before i start making final renders, i would like to get some advice.

I have done this render in MentalRay, and this is just a direct output image without any post-processing in Photoshop. (that's next)

Any advice that you have to help me improve this before i start my final renders would be great. I have attached my render so that you can critique those too. I don't have that much experience with Mental Ray yet so I don't know if i am using the best settings.

generally speaking, you don't want any barriers between the viewer and where you want their focus drawn. In the case of a single family home, the front door should be an immediate focal point. In this case, you have placed the viewer outside of the property and walled off the scene to make it seem out of reach and not approachable.

Yep I agree with John, the camera is right on the fence, seems like some one is trying to pick inside of the property, instead of creating an inviting view.

If you still want to show the fence I would put the camera crossing the street person view point, and adjust the lens to fit the whole house. also the siding seems to dirty, unless you want to show and actual model of the house I would turn off the dirt (A/O) or give a little variety now is too dense and even.

Why did you change the Interpolation of FG N. to manual mode?

Oh for this style of House the windows frames should be thicker 2" to 3" at least.

Are you animating the camera? If not, switch FG to "Project FG Points From Camera Position" and use "Interpolate Over Num. FG Points" instead of radius interpolation.
