Mario De Achadinha
Hi Guys Was wondering if anyone has come across a script that will allow you to switch on certain lights in the scene when you use a specific camera? So example would be if I do an exterior scene with a vray sun exterior camera this light activates, then have an internal scene that I light the interior differently and use another camera which activate those lights needed and switch off the rest. Make sense? I know I could achieve this with scene presets but just wondering if there is a clever script?
cg_Butler
I know of no scripts that do it, but this plugin is worth it's weight in gold if you want to render multiple cameras in one file. It has an option called "property sets" which allows you to do exactly what you want, but that's just scratching the surface! There is a free version which allows you to setup three passes i think. Get involved!

notamondayfan
If you didn't want to go down the RP Manager route, you could try using "State Sets" inside Max. My preference though is to have several scene files containing only lights and cameras, and then the model file is xreffed into these scenes. That way you don't have to mess around with different set-ups all in one file. Dean
Josef Wienerroither
Is'nt that exactly the use case that State Sets are meant for ? http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-6CA5DD56-9807-4E65-9A2E-14E6209B3062.htm,topicNumber=d30e473333 They will not switch automatically when you activate a specific camera, but AFAIK you can batch render different states... Mario De Achadinha
Yes agreed, you can do this with scene states, just the frustrating part is every time you change something you need to remember to save the scene state otherwise it reverts to previously saved version. But the fact that it works with batch rendering is a plus. Will have to look at options. Thanks for all your thoughts.
