danb4026
I have used Viz-People, Epictor, Dosch, etc. but none have what I want. These images need high quality, well dressed people holding cocktails and wine, having a great time, chatting with one another in a social setting. I would obviously prefer not to have to pull people out of photos. Any suggestions for other sources of imagery?
Tommy L
Well you have two options.... 1: IStock 2: Photoshoot. Both require keying from green-screen Im afraid.
Chris MacDonald
My solution has always been to trawl google images, but not using terms that throw up obvious stock photography such as "business people", etc. I'd google for landmarks (Trafalgar square, central park) if I wanted people outdoors, or for things such as "wedding reception" if I wanted people in suits, drinking, laughing, etc. Get creative with your search terms and use the search options to display +10 megapixel images. You'd be surprised how much you can turn up. Failing that; the above suggestion is the way to go.
danb4026
Tommy and Chris, thanks for the response. I will enlist your advice and see what comes up. I really don't know why none of the companies that sell this stuff sell what I need. It seems like every project I work on has a lounge, club, restaurant, outdoor entertaining areas, etc. Of course the designers and architects want people socializing, laughing, partying and drinking. You would think there is enough of a market for these people types that one of the companies would sell them. Dosch has "nightlife" people, but they are not appealing to myself or my clientele. Ernest Burden III
I do as Chris suggests, including the search terms. It does mean having to cut out the figures, though. And there's the issue of legal usage, but I usually modify them to my NPR style, so it might be passable. Or not. Obviously there are no such issues to shots you've taken yourself, and there are many threads here about doing that, being confronted by cops and angry street vendors who want to kill you for 'stealing their soul' etc. And it's true - every time I look for something stock, either in models or entourage photos, I find 'close but not right' and end up doing my own. danb4026
Yeah, well right now I am pulling people out of images. Going to spend a full day doing this.

There is no photoshoot.com that leads to any green screen imagery.
Ernest Burden III
I would bet he meant 'go do a photo shoot for the figures you need'. That's how many of the big rendering studios do it, they hire actors and do custom greenscreen shots to fit the project. Over time, you could build up a great library. danb4026
Ahh, that makes sense. Silly me.
Tommy L
It can be done for low budget, probably quicker than trawling Google. You just need a big green peice of cloth and a couple of decent lights, dont even need a strobe really. Biggest hurdle is finding a model, unless you want the be the only person in all your renders. Umesh Raut
Your office and friend/social circle people could come to your help if they are willing; weekend parties and get-togethers are good bet, too. The only hurdle being the green screen setup, though. And they will surely be better than actors.
Chris MacDonald
Everyone I point a camera at tries to hide from it, making me feel like some kind of strange voyeur/pervert
notamondayfan
You need a better zoom on your camera!! And in my experience a white background can be better than green if you're manually cutting out people, and you'll have less colour bleed to from your screen / background.
