Sketchrender
Hi I am having a problem texturing a model. The soldier coursing above a window and a the roof tile. How do I texture the brick above the window, there are multiple sizes and I am looking for a way to do it. Also the roof tile, I have looked for a texture to match it but I can't . Any suggestions. Very much appreciated. Phil
cg_Butler
For the brick I would create your own diffuse, displacement, bump maps etc for it from brick maps. As for the roof tiles, same thing, but nothing beats modelling roof tiles in my opinion. Get yourself on http://www.cgtextures.com for some good base maps to start with. Sketchrender
Andy Thank you . The basic brick I am alight with, its the lintel splayed detail. Do I texture each one individually ? I will head over to CG textures now. Thanks again. phil
cg_Butler
Hi Phillip. I understood it was the header above the window you were talking about. I'd still create a map for it I think. Or if you prefer to model the bricks and then texture them. What's your modelling software of choice? You could render the lintels in a direct front elevation, nice and large, and use that in photoshop to create your texture from.
Sketchrender
3D Studio Max 2013 and Vray. I think that's the way I will go, render and photoshop. Thank you again. phil
John Dollus
create your brick header straight, map it then apply a modifier (bend or skew etc) to match. the map will then follow the modifier. Is that what you are after?
