benjaminbogaert
So i'm doing this outdoor scene, and the last two days i'v been trying to get this render to work. My pc build 20gig ram Nvidia GTX 680 4gig onboard memory. AMD vishera 8core clocked to 4.6 ghz. Dynamic memory at 18500 ( which should is the right amount for my set of ram ) So my light cache is building 20% all is well, but my physical memory is climbing to 99% And when it hits 99 all hell breaks lose and my computer freezes. When I disable displacement all is well... What can this be? Please any advice...
benjaminbogaert
Well **** me sideways.. IT was a dispacement map in a blend material that was doing nasty stuff. I turned it off and POOF.
Francisco Penaloza
Usually Displacement is not Lightcache friendly, if it is exterior, you can go a long way with brute force as second bounce, plus you'll get better details also try to use landscape displacement instead 3d displacement when possible, uses less memory. benjaminbogaert
I'l look up landscape displacement, but it was one tree that made the whole scene go fubar. I'm doing some casestudies for exterior renders, and i'm doing the viscobel exterior tutorial. The guy is totally worth his money. Thx for the tip though!
