Noise
Hi I have this problem occasionally and it is a pain - the attached image shows the same image in Photoshop (right) and also using the Windows Image Viewer (left). The windows viewer is alot darker and I cannot figure out why, does anyone have any idea's. Thanks N
Francisco Penaloza
Check your color profile inside Photoshop. I have sRGB IEC61966-2.1 seems to work fine
Noise
That's what I have it set as - what does yours say for the Settings ? Mine is North America General Purpose
christofferthulin
Check your color management in windows control panel. Maybe there is some funky business going on there. Windows viewer seems to be off sometimes, though the problem I once had did not concern the brightness.

Mine is North America General Purpose 2 yes that's correct, as Christoffer mentioned check your windows profile, it should be the same, now some video card drives manage the color by application, so take a look at that too. Noise
I did all the above and it has helped but there is still a noticeable tonal difference - Windows Viewer is still slightly darker.
Noise
The image in the first post was before calibration, the image below is after calibration and how it should look. What a difference. The very very strange thing is that it is only this image that is affected by the problem to this extent. Edited May 22, 2013 by Noise
Fooch
i had that issue too. Picasa and photoshop ran it well. windows viewer was clamping the blacks on the image. irritating because the client keeps seeing the crushed versions..
Noise
Hi Fooch Did you manage to figure it out ?
Fooch
hi neil. no idea.. cant be arsed. installed picasa and showed via it. If clients complained later ill blame their monitors for it logically it should print well though because the range is in there
