Karrde
Hey guys. My deadline is getting closer and I'm getting a little frustrated. I have a scene with several carpets made of Hair and Fur. It all rendered fine till... well, some point. Nothing happend, no scene file got corrupted (I always save to new file and end up with 200+ of them in each project) but it simply started to crash after render, when the H&F effect was being applied. It crashes with the vray Unhandled Exception. It was some time ago and since I didnt have time to look it up then I just deleted all carpets from the scene, with intention to merge them back later. So here I am, trying to figure what the hell is causing this. I went back a 100 saves or so and it rendered fine, then i deleted all the new geometry made since then in the most recent file and yet again - it rendered fine. Seems like scene file is not corrupted in any way, it's just some piece of geometry/material that is causing this. I narrowed things down to one model of a lamp and when not in scene (just hidden, not deleted) it renders fine BUT I made this change on one of older saves. If I hide those lamps on the most recent file it still crashes. Not a single part of geometry or material from these lamps are used in any other part of the scene, so there must be something more that causes the crashes. And I have just no idea what it is... Is it H&F that doesnt like some particular geometry types? Something I should watch for? I belive there was an update to Vray itself lately which i didnt do yet, so I will try that also - but still, it DOES render it in the end. I need to figure it out by tomorrow and I can't switch those carpets for something without H&F.
Karrde
Solved. Apparently the Vray/H&F combo does not like objects with vraylight material inside other objects (light bulb).
Karrde
For the record: Bug fixes: (*) Hair&Fur: Fixed crash when lit by VRayLightMtl with Direct Illumination on; That was the problem. it was fixed in 2.40 version of Vray. Karrde
As I said in the previous post, it was a bug of a certain vray build. Just update it and you will be fine.
