Jeff Mottle
I just had to post something about this because it I find it so funny. One of my favorite TV shows is CSI. While this is nothing new on TV, while watching CSI NY, last night, I could not stop myself from laughing again at the complete crap they try to pull off in the digital world. I think this happens in almost evey episode where in an attempt to find the killer they analyse some picture or video footage. The favorite as of late is the supposed ability to be able to zoom into the reflection in a persons eye and be able to interolate the reflection of what they were looking at. Of course we are told this is only possible if the person is properly hydrated. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. I just find it so funny that at most 4 pixels of color can be interoplated into a complete image of the killers face. Another good one last night was NTSC overscan. While reviewing some store video camera surveilance tape the suspect walk out of frame. The operator says "well TV underscans NTSC so we can see some more" All of a sudden revealing the underscanned part of the video reveaded a good 200 pixels of image on one side of the footage alone!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Anyway, some comedy for a Friday afternoon.

That has been bothering me for quite a while. They even did that in BladeRunner (bow, all, at the mere mention), though it was in the context of extreme tech, so more believable while buying the whole android thing. There was an otherwise good Gene Hackman spy-ish movie that took that one step further by showing some CIA-like group using one or two regular photos to instantly develope full 3D models to spin. At issue was 'what's in the bag?' Somehow they could just tell.

William Alexander
Don't 64 bit processing make that possible? -snicker- 4 pixels @ 8bit per pixel interpreted with 64 bit proc = 2048 x 2048 pixels hehehehe..... drops to floor........ LOLOLOLOLOL...... damn thats a big picture of 4 shaded squares WDA if only I could see that reflection in the eye past Time Warners Compression, during times of High Bandwidth cable use (usally all the time). Chad Warner
My favorite is the CSI episode where they were trying to figure out the path that a fire had taken in a house, and the CSI Tech was supposed to be using some high-fangled "fire" software, when one look at the interface showed that he was using 3d Max with some sort of screen capture video to show the tech doing his work.
