lukesmith
Studio/Institution: Personal Work.Genre: Residential ExteriorSoftware: 3DS Max, VRay, MultiscatterDescription: This is a personal project of mine used to learn 3DS Max and VRay. I initially used sketchup and kerykthea for renderings, and migrated recently. This is the first render I have produced from VRay after several evenings work over as many months. I'm looking for any critique on all aspects of the image, to really push for photorealism. Things to fix :- More Contrast Better Ground Texture Addition of ZDepth Luke. John Dollus
To me, this structure looks abandoned and holds little promise in terms of satisfying a client. Look more to architectural photography as a reference and less to the latest CG house in the woods renderings.
lukesmith
John, Thank you, I can see what you mean, I wish I hadn't titled it 'House in the Woods' as that might create false conceptions... the interior also isn't fully textured or lit, as it says WIP ! I also think a better camera position and post-processing may bring life to the render, and goes back to your point of researching architectural photography which I will do. Just as a note, the architecture and location is based upon D House by Lode Architects [http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/03/Dezeen_D-House-by-Lode-Architecture_8.jpg]
lukesmith
John, thank you for the critique. I agree that it looks a little lonely, I have some idea's for a more realistic vegetation, as well as some post-pro to liven it up. I'll take a look at some Arch Photography like you suggest, I feel the chosen camera angle/perspective could have a lot to do with it.
