Vray Demo version installation problem

I am a beginner in this field. I have a laptop with windows 8 and a student version of 3D S Max. I am trying to install Vray Demo version to try on one of my projects. I am unable to install the Vray on my machine. The install does run but when I hit the render button it says Error-Could not obtain a license (4096)

 

I have asked a few experts around and done some research online. But that has not helped. I think the problem is related to windows 8. Anybody experienced this before?

I have downloaded 2.40.02 released on Feb 13 2013 for 64 bit system for 3D S Max 2013.
