Since i am new here i would like to say first that you have a really great forum for Architecture CG running here :)

And now to my WIP:

Its not my project but something i got from a book. I modeled and rendered it to test my skills.

Architect: E. Jiricna Architects

Location: London, Fulham Road

Only standard lights used, Scanline render.

nice scanline render. I think I already saw that stair in Retail Design book (duh, obviously..hint...kickers).

looking at your render, I think the glass should have a tint of green.

Looking at it is now, it looks more plexiglass than glass glass :D

I love it. If you are going to work the shiny surface look, then I think you go all out, like this picture. It's not comletely realistic, but it has something to say, which is the point of creating any communicative object.

I think the eye height is perfect. I like what it does to make the rail end into an object all its own. You can follow the twists and turns easily, and still have a clear view up the stairs.

My big issue with your rendering is the glow around the lights. It is not working with your otherwise knife-sharp treatment. I suggest you completely lose it, in favor of a crisp, well-defines frame to the lights. Just have them 100% white with no glow.

Whose idea was it to put a logo behind a glass stair? You want people to pay attention to what they're doing while ascending stairs.

Thx for the crits :)

@Ernest

I'll make a render without glowing lights, with greenish glass and without logo. The logo was added by myself but like you already said, it draws a bit too much attention from the stairs.

Its actually my first "real" architecture rendering although i can't really say that i am completely new to it. I studied architecture and did some game modeling already, so atleast i am able to model in max without big limitations. Hope to catch up with you guys ;)

I'll post a new version tomorrow.
