Guest sachinwalvekar
Hi, I am currently using old 3dsmax 2010 with windows 7 - 64 bit. Accidentally I chose to order Dell laptop i7 with windows 8 OS. I have been searching and finding that 3dsmax 2010 will not work on window 8. Please let me know if any one has experience working with 3dxmax 2010 on windows 8. I want to be sure before I abandon 3dsmax 2010 and forced to move to another version. Thanks.
Krisztian Gulyas
I think it will work. When Win 7 came out, many programmes that were designed for win xp or Vista, ran without a problem on Win 7. Although win 8 is totally different that other windows OS, I think it will support softwares that were designed for win 7.

Krisztian Gulyas
I found a thread about this and Autodesk's official answer is no, 3ds max on window 8 is not supported, just the latest, 2014 version. Sorry, but I didn't know about that until now.
jackbird
I'm using 2012 through 2014 on Windows 8 without a hitch - I'm on subscription so I can't test older than that. I'm guessing that you can force 3ds max to run in Compatability Mode, however.

Tommy L
Well you could always un-install W8 and install W7. Cheaper and easier than a migration to a new Max.
