LordRaven
Hi guys! Could anyone please tell me the best way to import from microstation into ed max 6 ?
fazziebear
what version of microStation? i got best results from Microstation V8- export to DWG then import into max. Watch out for feature solids as i believe they convert and create a helper component in max that can put your file sizes up. these can be deleted with a little care though. LordRaven
10x for the reply! Yep, it's v8. I was thinking that there might be a plugin or something to export directly ".max" format.
fazziebear
heh heh, i wish it isnt a requirement many people want, max isnt seen as engineering enough by many microstation users.
LordRaven
"it isnt a requirement many people want, max isnt seen as engineering enough by many microstation users." I agree with you, but it's superior when it comes to presentations.

hockley91
I haven't tried importing into Max 6, but when I had Max 4, it was very difficult to import. I changed the DGN into a DWG. I had trouble importing the whole .dwg, so I had to import in sections. I would import the elements one at a time.. Windows first, then doors, and such. It took some time, but it worked out. After that incident, I won't mess with DGN's and 3D Studio Max again. It took too much time to work with. Just an FYI for you. Again, I don't know if Max 6 has made it easier to import.
