Stephen Hughes
Hi all, I have a really large scene (42m polys) and the FPS are really bad (0.4). I'm trying to set up a few animated cameras but just can't get the feedback from the viewport to see if they're flying smoothly. Is there some way of pre-rendering just the selected viewport for the 500 frames so that it plays out smoothly and i can check fairly quickly if the camera pan is gonna look ok when sent to render? Or does anybody have any other suggestions in dealing with this issue?? Cheers.
jameswelch
If understand you correctly I think you can do this using Tools - Grab Viewport - Create Animated Sequence File. As far as I can remember this should create a preview video of what you can see in the viewport... Hope that helps

salvador
It used to be easier: Render menu - Make Preview, that's it. Now it's a bit more hidden, so to speak.
Josef Wienerroither
You might check out my viewport preview script "PowerPreview" It's ideal for preview generation in the Nitrous Viewport http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/powerpreview-high-quality-nitrous-previews
