starslicer
The owner of the architectural firm I work for thinks my renderings are quite lovely but take too long. He says they take so long he makes no money. So, I been trying to speed things up. While the models don't look great, they look pretty dog gone good coming from Revit as an FBX. And since I can link them in that is even better. It allows us to do our preliminary in Revit, then continue on with the working drawings using the same model saving time, assuming we get the project. So down to the issue I have. I like vRay, have a nice vRAy library as well. I can change the materials to vRay materials I have no issues doing that and it is pretty quick because of my library. However, if I relink the FBX after adjusting the revit model, it will overwrite the materials I just put in. So I ask you guys this, is there any way to re link the fbx and keep the materials? Jose Negrete
In your fbx file link preset settings: under materials enable "Keep 3ds Max scene materials parameters on reload", also "Keep 3ds Max scene material assignments on reload"
