Noise with GI refractive caustics

Hi guys

I've got a scene lit with a Vray Dome Light & HDRI. I have test rendered a section of it and attached the RGB and RawGI pass. The light is filtering through the window, but due to GI refractive caustics is creating lots of noise. It's definitely that, because when i switch off GI refractive caustics the noise disappears...but so does my nice light!

my question is: what settings do i tweak to keep GI Refrac caustics on but prevent noise?? Here are the test renders and some settings:

i have loads of other passes if you need to see anything else!

thanks in advance for any suggestions,

T

Select the glass objects, right click and click vray properties. Untick Generate GI, Receive GI and Visible to GI.

Unless you have glass, such as frosted, then the effect on GI is barely noticable, so in cases like these it's best to tell the exclude the glass from the GI calcs.

thanks Dean. I did that, but it had the same effect as unticking GI Refrac caustics in the Illumination Tab...very dull light.

Here's my jam: i want to retain the light but smooth it out. do i have to pump up LC and IM values?? I don't want to end up with a ridiculously slow render either...

Also try unticking Receive Shadows and Cast Shadows in object properties.

If that doesn't help, please post more details, and perhaps a render with and without the glass in place. What is the glass material?

Also for GI try increasing hsph subdivs and interp samples. This will blur the GI, but remove some spots.
