alimarafia
Hi, I've made a lot of trees using the instance command ( move/shift/instance ) however the file became more more slow to manipulate. I would like to know if it is possible to display the instances as bounding box or any simpler geometry. thanks in advance
Krisztian Gulyas
Select the trees, right click, object properties, general tab, display as box Though if you've created so many trees, the render-time will be veery long. alimarafia
Thanks krisztian. Though if you've created so many trees, the render-time will be veery long. Indeed it is. As a newbie in this area, I would be interested to know if there is a better way to copy trees without this render time-issue.
Krisztian Gulyas
You're welcome. You can use proxies. If you're using VRay, then right click, vray mesh export, give that object a name, tick "atomatically create proxies", set "faces in preview" to about 5-15 thousand (5-15 percent of the faces the original object has), and you can copy them. It's faster (shorter render-time) than copying them as instances, but it always takes a lot of time to render realistic trees.
Jose Negrete
you might also have the tree proxies in their own file and xref them in when needed.
