illusioncreative
Studio/Institution: IllusionGenre: Residential ExteriorSoftware: 3ds Max, Vray, PhotoshopDescription: This is the first exterior I've done in a couple of years. Admittedly not the most exciting project, but nice to get back in to it! So far it's a simple render with an AO pass and a bit of basic Photoshop. I was asked to try to match it to their last development which I've attached. I'm looking for pointers on the detail. Suggestions on how can I take it to the next level would be appreciated. I'm looking to scatter some leaves and get some reflections in the glass. Any other critique would be much appreciated! Thanks!
cg_Butler
It's a nice base render to begin with. Well done. It needs some tweaks though. Definitely a blue sky and some variations in colour and length of the grass. Your roof tiles aren't correct. It looks like they run in straight lines up the roof. They should overlap by 50% on each row. Look at the other house you attached. It's similar to brick coursing when building walls. For roof tiles overlapping them will stop water dripping directly through the roof. That will instantly make it look more realistic. A bit more colour variation on the tiles will help you too. Theres a great script called Atiles that dows a fantactic joc in creating roof tiles. You can find it here. ATiles I think the planting could be improved, some low level shrubs to fill in the gaps between the bigger ones, perhaps some flowers too to bulk out the planting and soften the render a bit. Lastly the glass could be a lot more reflective, rather than seeing in to the house, we should see a lot more reflections on the windows.
