Crazy Homeless Guy
i would try to make all of the letters out of fruit, especially since it says fruit bowl twice. is this sign the only sign for the store, or is it for a promotional/advertisement? if it is the only sign on the store, i think you need to think about readability. if the store is along a street, do i have time to recognize the name on the sign, having never been there before, without coming to a complete stop? if it is a mall, can i spot the name from 40 or so feet away? other than that, nice work. it reminds of the beattle sg peppers cover. salf
nice image!:..ony 2 things: -Theres something about the perspective of the background picture and the perspective of the fruit basket that doesnt quite fits. -the background image looks like lower resolution than the fruits, kinda pixelated at the end. Ernest Burden III
Straighten up the fence. It doesn't matter if you are looking down a bit--a fence should be straight vertically. Also--lose the apple branch in the upper right. It throws off the balanced composition without adding anything useful. It is the first thing you encounter as you 'enter' the picture. The fruit lettering should be first. Then the viewer is free to explore the scene. Also, be very careful about how 'flowery' the picture gets. I have to tell you--my first impression seeing the thumbnail was that the picture was of a memorial--you know, how people leave flowers, candles, teddybears at the site of a tragedy. M_Jaco
Thanks all, Travis, I did try to make all the letters out of fruit, but it wasn't clear enough to recognize the name on the sign (like you said), and no, it’s not the only sign on the store, its part of it Salf & Ernest, I think you both have the same point, because the gate is actually 100% straight, (see attachment), it’s probably that "the background picture and the perspective of the fruit basket that doesn’t quite fit", that’s why the gate doesn’t look straight. I'll try to adjust the camera to the background a bit better. The background image is high res. Also Errnest, I see your point about the flowers and the branch, I’ll take off the flowers in the center, and leave only in the middle, so people won't walk in the store asking for some kind of fruit memorial
pmanahan
If this is for a sign I think it will be quite busy and hard for people to read though it is a lot of fun. I love the old fruit crate labels from the early-mid 1900's, check out this site http://thelabelman.com/orange1.htm . The crate labels have the same elements you are using.... forground subject matter of fruit, prominent type and a background scene, they do it more graphically, they also seperate the foreground and background which may help some of the perspective problems. pmanahan
