CliveG
I've got a file that has been imported from SU as 3DS into Max for rendering with Vray. I've converted the scene to Vray and have just done some test renders to get an idea of the amount of processing time an animation might take. But each render seems to spend at least 20 or more seconds "updating mesh (Number XYZ)" then "updating Instance (Number XYZ)" before it even begins to render. I'm looking for an explanation as to what is occurring and if I can do something so that all of this updating doesn't occur for every frame rendered? notamondayfan
Every frame a certain amount of loading will happen, as vray / max doesn't understand things are static and will presume it has to re-load. You could try converting your scene / objects to vray proxies. Also using instances will also help loading time. You might also find a load of un-used geometry imported from SU, so delete all them, and any CAD drawings, WIP objects, etc. Also if you have large bitmaps, look at down-scalling them to what you actually need, or try the bitmap pager.
