stayinwonderland
So we have the pig, we have the girl. These are lofted circles along a spline path. Materials are identical apart from col. To get the extra glow on the girl I increased the 'generate GI' to 1.5, plus saturation is set to 1.0 in post-processing for half decent col bleed. The pig's generate GI is set to 20 and nothing is happening. In fact, generate GI on, off, huge, small, doesn't create a glow. The vray light mtl I've tried ramping right up but the light doesn't get glowy, just turns whiter and whiter. Baffled. I tried moving the pig to where the girl is, thinking it was the position/wall material but nothing changed. (please don't suggest alternative ways like photoshop or anything, I really just want to figure this one out!)
Francisco Penaloza
Well you know that "you put lipstick in a pig ... still a pig" :) Did you check the normal on the pig? sometimes the loft flip the faces, also when using self illuminated materials I usually check, compensate exposure, this will warranties that that material will glow. You can also try to use VRay light mesh. Create a VRay light, then on type select mesh, then click your pig or girl, it may work better than Self Illuminated materials in this case. stayinwonderland
Thanks for the suggestions! Well, it's sort of fixed. I changed the lighting of the scene, the general room light was cut by around 50% and all of a sudden the pig just bloomed. In fact, I had to turn the GI to 1.0 as it was too much. So, what's very weird here, is that the ambient light of the room was suppressing the loft's illumination somehow. Yet not on the girl!? So strange.
