Bundie
Im using 3dsMax 2013 with a Revit file linked in, its only a small interior so a very small file size. After a few reloads of the revit file due to changes in the revit model, it freezes on the reload into Max. Ive tried to restart Max, rename the revit file and the Max file, but still freezes. Has anyone else come across this problem and how did they fix it? I had to unload the link and reload it again, which means reapplying all the materials, but it didnt fix the linking problem. Jose Negrete
did you add any modifiers like edit poly or reset xform to your linked geometry? did anything change drastically in the revit model?
Francisco Penaloza
yes missing geometry to if you did a drastic change on your Max file will freeze the importer. File link is not that smart to see that you change, move or delete a element that was later on modified with an edit polygon, edit mesh or similar. Bundie
No major change to my revit model but I added a edit poly modifier to my shelves so I could change the material IDs for certain faces ....... Im guessing thats the problem??? is there another way to add 2 materials to 1 revit object?
Jose Negrete
That isnt too disruptive in my experience. We use edit mesh modifier to change mat ids. What is different though is we export an FBX (2011) from RVT and link that into max.
Bundie
Thanks Jose, I would prefer to just link the revit file straight into Max as it eliminates the step of having to export to fbx, even though its not a big hassle to do so.
