philvanderloo
Hi, I just loaded up vray and am trying to get the hang of it. When creating AEC objects in 3ds max, how do I access the muti sub object level to enable applying materials to the different components? The aectemplates.mat material library includes Window-Template, a Multi/Sub-Object material designed to be used with windows. Each component of the window/material is listed below along with its corresponding Material ID. " That materials library is in the materiallibraries folder inside your Max directory in your Program Files/Autodesk folder. If you are using Vray you will have to convert all the standard materials in the aectemplates.mat library to V-Ray. Best resave the library after as for example vray_aectemplates.mat Edited September 12, 2013 by Ismael typo
philvanderloo
Thank You Ismael. I've read through all of this and it all makes sense but I still can't figure out why, when I convert my AEC window to an editable mesh, and select certain faces and apply multi/sub object materials, the materials apply to the entire window. Not just the selected faces. I've tried 2 or 3 different methods and I can't get the materials to apply to individual faces?? Ok I'm editing this post to say that this video was very helpful- Edited September 16, 2013 by philvanderloo
