CGarchitect Chat

Recommended Posts

Hi Richard

I have had similar experiences although I have bumped into nisus and mike zagorski who have been very helpful. I know other people who visit CGArchitectChat and some agree ahead of time on a time to meet.

My sense is that CGArchitectChat doesn't work well on a 'drop-in' basis.

I would suggest that CGArchitect have a member poll to establish what would be the best 3-4 times in a day when people could log on using GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) as the basis given that we work around the globe and around the clock. Getting on CGArchitectChat on my lunch-hour may allow me to connect to 2-3 time zones in North America / South America as well as those in Europe who will have had their supper. Your morning may be my 'after supper'. From a professional point of view I would prefer that CGArchitectChat work well during the week when I'm working and may have questions as opposed to the weekend.

Based on this survey,CGA could post 3-4 'best' times in the day on the understanding that people would start using CGArchitectChat on a more regular basis knowing that others might be there.

What are other's doing on CGArchitectChat?

David

Got me thinking

For example, a time in the morning where I live(Calgary) would be after lunch in London and after supper in australia. That would allow most of the people in the world to get on CGArchitectChat at the same time while the Pacific Ocean is covered in darkness.

Other times would optimize the opportunities for Europe/Asia/Australia and North-South America/Europe during working hours. Australia/North America/Asia doesn't share working hours unfortunately

yeh, I totally agree with you. I love the idea of real-time chat, that you can get help almost instantly, and with also the use of this forum, you can also post images or longer lasting message for everyone. The problem is that..nobody seems to STAY/idle in the chat room long enough. Too often, people just logon, take a look if anyone is on, or if things is happening, 3 minutes later, log off. I think people should really STAY in the channel. Then it will really grow. Sort of like ICQ or MSN where you just leave it on even at work :) .. you don't have to reply or do anything, but more people in there means occassionally you will participate in a lively discussion of rendering, Art, architecture, or even engineering. (or anything!)

Right now, the channel have bots so it will stay open, and about 8 of us (besides the bots) are always IN THERE 24/7, ready to help ;)

So, come join IN!. I feel lonely in there already.....

I would also like to see more Chat Traffic. It would be cool if the Chat Engine were more user friendly and customizable, kind of like the Instant messengers of today.. Hmm wait a minute, what if you could host a messenger link, to make it easier for people with messenger accounts to hook up while on this site?
