MAC or PC?

Recommended Posts

Ive done some research but not really found any hard evidence as to which OS is better? So decided I would make a simple post asking for opinions, OSX or WIN? Im not asking which you prefer in general as I feel this is a little bit of a 'never ender' questions and answers game but I am interested in to your opinion about whether you feel windows has more of a stable OS over MAC taking the full render process into account? I ask because im simply curious. Does windows load and operate faster more naturally when handling vray & sketchup for instance?

Look forward to your comments.

Jack.

I think it will be very useful for your post to list the software that you use or plan to use with any of the OS. For example, if you work in 3ds Max there is no version of it for any MAC OS, so just with that in mind you will have to discard OSX... If you own a MAC, you can have both OSX and WIN installed, but that is another story.

Recent versions of OSX are really good, and Windows 7 is also really good. I use both myself. Really, unless you're in an office environment where you need interoperability it depends on the software you want to use and personal preferences - though running a Hackintosh has a lot of overhead and I think if I didn't have any Apple hardware I'd just go with Windows for ease of operation.

This.

There is no "better" really. SU is 32bit / has similar limitations in either case, and there are a couple of niche features unique in each platform as far as SU itself and plugins etc, but there are work-arounds in either case.

Use what you are more familiar with / own lincences for the rest of your software, so that you can streamline your workflow without 2nd guessing.
