Comparison: Most valuable software package for Archviz?

Hello everyone,

First of: I am new to this forum and somehow I messed up my first posting. Here we go again :)

I did some research the last days by reading interviews, making offs and tutorials and found that 3ds Max seems to be the most used 3D Application in the field.

For me it seems that most of the artists tend to use the following pieces of software in addition to 3ds Max: Advanced Painter, RailClone, Vray, Multiscatter, Floor Generator and Forest Pack.

There are of course more than this but I wanted to list at least the most mentioned tools.

For me being new to Archviz and not yet married to a 3D Software this raised some questions.

Vray for example exists for all of the 3D Packages but the Maya version seems to be behind the Max version and the Vray for C4D seems to be behind the Maya version.

Modo got a nice mArch(itecture) Kit but no Vray and none of the above mentioned tools (as far as I know).

And that's where I'd like to ask the community to bring in your experiences. Is 3ds Max (in the light of the above mentioned tools) superior to Maya, Cinema and Modo or do exist as mighty equivalent tools for these packages?

(I'd like to ask this question beside the fact that modelling tools and usability of max vs. cinema vs. modo are different and indeed a question of personal preferences or a 'question of faith')

Greetz,

Alessandro
