Hey guys,

I heard lately about the release of octane render 1.2 for revit , and artlantis 5 for revit too but they are expensive.

I need to know if there are other rendering engines that i can use for rendering in revit other then autodesk 360.

And i need to know if anybody had any experience with exporting revit as obj to artlantis 4.1 and if this a gd idea.

Hey there!

Yes, Octane Render 1.2 and Artlantis 5 are great rendering engines for Revit, but I totally get that the cost can be a concern. If you're looking for alternative rendering options that work with Revit, here are a few worth checking out:

  1. Enscape – A real-time rendering engine that integrates directly into Revit. It’s user-friendly and great for architects who need quick, high-quality renders without a steep learning curve.
  2. Twinmotion – Free for personal use and offers impressive real-time rendering, making it ideal for visualizing architectural projects.
  3. Lumion – Another popular option for Revit users. It’s powerful and offers an extensive library of materials and objects, though it requires a good GPU.
  4. V-Ray for Revit – A high-end rendering engine that provides photorealistic results. It’s widely used in the industry but does come with a price tag.
  5. Blender with Revit Export – If you’re okay with exporting your Revit model (e.g., as an FBX), Blender is a free alternative that offers powerful rendering through Cycles or Eevee.

As for exporting Revit to OBJ for use in Artlantis 4.1, it’s definitely possible, but there might be some limitations. You may lose some materials or texture mapping in the process, so you’d likely need to reapply them in Artlantis. If you’re comfortable tweaking your model a bit after export, it can still be a viable workflow.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you need more details on any of these options.
