caj56k
Hi all, Hope someone might be able to help me? I am new to 3DS so please bare with me I have imported my model from sketch up into 3ds max 2014. I have some basic knowledge of applying materials, and i have assigned a 'double faced' brick and timber material to several objects within the model. When i apply the material to other faces however, it only renders/shows in the viewport as a colour. I apply each material by selecting the object, then in modify, i select the polygon, and apply the material in the materials editor to that element of the object (not sure if this is the most efficient way of doing it)? Anyway, i would greatly appreciate anyone's help on the matter as i have spent almost a day on this now, looked through forums/videos, but with no look. Thank you in advance! caj56k
Just to update - i have tried various methods to solve the problem including: exploding the original sketchup model before importing, grouping different objects, changing the ucs in skectchup, importing/merging. Strangely i have also just drawn a cube in sketchup (next the the model i created), import them both in the same drawing, iand i cant apply the material to the cube either??? This is so strange and tearing my hair out a little bit; i think i am missing something really obvious but i just dont know what. any thoughts very welcome! caj56k
For anyone who is interested in getting around this problem - it seems you have to apply a material/colour to the objects other then standard white or default
