Thats an interesting way to do it. Anyone ever model this way?
STRAT
texturing a scattering of leaves? of course. it's a common modelling technique. i used it when i created my trees post... http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/showthread.php?t=6819&highlight=STRAT
skogskalle
looks like speedtree? not sure, dont use it myself, but I think it makes those kinds of models....
RyanSpaulding
So do you just create a bunch of flat planes as leaves, texture them, and then model/texture the trunk? How high would the poly counts generally get?
Jeff Mottle
looks like speedtree? not sure, dont use it myself, but I think it makes those kinds of models.... Yup I agree, they have a definete SpeedTree look to them.
STRAT
yeah, same idea only automated. Ryan - i basically poly modelled the trunk/branches and textured them. then i textured about 4 different textured flat triangle shaped leaves, then scattered them about the trunk in various fashions. the poly count per tree is a couple of thousand. Speedtree does similar, but it's all automated, hence the price ticket
