Scott Schroeder
The biggest hurdle for most places to adopt Luminon is indeed it's price for the quality you get. It's just nearly impossible to convince someone (and their clients) who is used to a more traditional high-end rendering workflow to drop $4k to take a pretty big step backwards in quality. Imagine if you were used to driving a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and all of a sudden someone told you that you could buy this more expensive mini-van just because it might be a bit faster than your Ferrari. Luminon is pretty much limited to outdoor spaces as well. I have yet to see an interior that is really indicative of the quality of Luminon's exteriors. If they move to a cheaper monthly subscription model and adopt some PBR, then they might start to gain some ground. But then, as Yama so brilliantly pointed out, you still have to take the proper amount of time to learn it. A render done in 7 seconds will always look like a 7 second rendering.
