Nvidia Quadro 4000 not compatible with Max 2010 ?

Hello everyone,

I encounter an irritating issue with 3ds max 2010 ever since we upgraded our hardware (but not software).

Sometimes, for no particular reason, the viewport would start lagging for like 3 minutes...and then work smoothly as usual.

I suspect it might be the incompatibility between the new hardware and old software but there is no way to test out this theory.

My setup as below:

3ds Max 2010

Vray 1.5 SP6

Nvidia Quadro 4000

Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 Ghz 3.40 GHz

16GB ram

Windows 7 Professional 64bit

7.4 Windows Experience Index

Updating the graphics card driver didn't help. Downloading the 3ds Max performance driver helped for a while but the problem appeared again this morning.

Hopefully anyone out there could provide some insight. It's been like this for about 6 months.

Thanks in advance,

Vincent

You should check the old drivers library from NVidia, also go to Autodesk website and check for the Authorized drivers for your video card. This are different than the latest or the performance ones. Those drivers are tested with specific software and hardware compatibility, if you still have same problems, it cam be something else, RAM maybe, HDD, Windows just being crazy hard to tell.

Any news?

Did you DL the D3DMaxtreme driver?

Q4000 maybe should work in a better way with MAX 2012/13/14, if you can upgrade to it.

Best R!

No I did not download the D3DMaxtreme driver. I'd like to try downgrading the driver first but work has been piling up since October. Do not want to risk my graphics card being worse than now.

I agree that Q4000 would work better in latest version of max but the company doesn't have the budget to upgrade yet. Since it's an architecture firm and not just purely 3d visualising. It sucks but gotta be greatful for getting a powerful machine compared to my collegues
