branskyj
Hi all, is it possible to preserve the color lines of many splines when attaching them to a single object? I had to work based on a massive .dwg with many layers and of course they all had different colors. I hate clutter and wanted to collapse all splines into a single one by attaching them to one another but that leaves me with a single color for all the splines. I would prefer to keep all the colors if possible while only having one layer. Grouping the many layers together doesn't help since it leaves all the clutter in the layer management. Is this possible? Thanks a lot.

Josef Wienerroither
It's not possible with the object colors, as they are - as the name says - object specific. When they are attached, they become a single object, thus get a single color only. Splines have a Material ID option though. But for this to be visible in the viewport you would have to assign different material ID's for each spline, attach the splines and assign a huge master Multi/Submaterial which consitst of the different colored submaterials. After that you would have to enable the spline's viewport rendering to actively get the geometry shaded with the correct sub-material.... I doubt the effort would pay off though ....
