benjaminbylund
Hi, I'm very new to 3dsMAX. Just acquired a fresh version 2009. Taking a basic Autodesk tutorial (2008 book +cd)...using the materials editor to assign basic materials to basic objects...but, nothing is showing up in my viewport, I'm definitely following the tutorial step-by-step......when rendering, I'm getting errors like: MissingMapsPath...its something having to do with my Mental Ray program...Is there something I have to do to load the program? Or change paths? Its a brand new version 2009 so I don't know why I have to dig in and do surgery like this.. any help would be appreciated, thanks
benjaminbogaert
If you import a model it might be because the path is set to the previous ' owners ' computer. Go to manage -> Asset Tracking Hit refresh, and see if u get any invalid paths. Right klick the object "set path" and move to the map containing the textures. Hope this helps

benjaminbogaert
Can't remember the exact layout from 09, might be under file ( left top corner )
CJI
In 2009 asset tracking is under File>Asset Tracking near the bottom. Or press Shift+T.
Scott Schroeder
Get the relink bitmaps script, it'll save you hours of asset tracking. http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/relink-bitmaps
