Dusky Scene

I would definitely adjust the exposure, this image seems dark, also there is something strange with the camera position, it seems like it is pointing down? or a little tilted to the left? I don't know. I would set it up a little lower, straight up and maybe move it to the left to show the end of that corridor. Now it it feel cut between both, the corridor and the seating area. If you don't want to show the corridor, I would wide the lens a little and center the view in the metal frame art that you have with the accent light, imitating a 1 point perspective, now the center of the image seems to the that little table lamp.

my screen is calibrated with spyder pro and I think its to dark, if your going for dusk I suggest adding a pink/orange sky. Peter Guthrie has some nice HDRI for those type of scenes, also maybe throw a feather/ expand on your windows. You can see a black line from the AA. And still need to tweak your GI settings to reduce the black blotches on your ceiling :D

That scene would be wonderful with some kind of Ocean background!

The biggest problem is it seems the scene is illuminated by environmental light instead of artificial inside, but the background outside is completely black, how is that possible ? Do you use environment override ?

For dusk scene, there is almost no other choice than IBL (either through HDRi but even jpeg would suffice since you don't need reflections), but use the same one for everything (lighting and background), don't do overrides or fakes unless you perfectly know what you strife for.

Overall both scenes look better, but the dusk version is still to dark - Dusk = Sunset so you should still be able to see the environment. Also the added lamps on the ceiling are good, but try looking for some real lamp models. Never work from your mind always use references.

On the daylight render you have a stroke of yellow in your render this might be because you need to adjust the colormapping. I always get confused with this, it's either your affect subpixelmapping or reduce you clamp output.

Hope this helps lol! :)

Thanks for the input Benjamin. I had concluded likewise on the physical lamps. The day scene I ended up with the yellow cast in post and kind of liked it.

The dusk scene could also benefit from realistic luminaires which in turn could take the edge off other areas. Thanks.
