MooseDog
i think you're right about the "lightness" of the house. brightened it up a bit to better fit the bg plate. about centering the house, i try to maintain the rule of thirds when framing a viz image. trying to improve on a mundane house shot anyway i can. no bodies of water up here . bg shot is up on a hillside looking out over a valley. thx again
Woody
Possibly up the contrast between the light and dark areas of the image. Be carefull not to over darken the shadows too much as you can generally see some definition in the shade. Keep in mind the lighting of the background image as well. Smaller windows tend to be fairly dark. Cheers!

MooseDog
great tips gentlemen. thx so much anyway, i thought something was "off" with the stonewall, glad you nailed it for me kulbir. major improvement. tweaked the shadows, curves and color balance to end up with the image below. starting to lose sight of the forest for the trees, so i'll assume this thing is improving. thx again extreme aa setting and it sill rendered in less than an hour.
