charlieinolas
Hi gyus, Do You know any way to create such foam/salt like structure (similiar to one in the picture), that would cover my object ? is there any plugin or simple way to achieve this effect? Or maybe displacement map, but how should it be made to be so irregular ? thanks
Zdravko Barisic
1. Displacement map, very hard, try this but hardly http://www.vray-materials.de/all_materials.php?q=foam&Submit=Search 2. Some flow effect, like real flow, or similar, some integrated in MAX https://www.google.rs/#q=3ds+max+foam https://www.google.rs/#q=3ds+max+flow Anyway, good luck! charlieinolas
Thanks Zdravko. I tried these methods before and found them on google, but I had a hope You'd know any plugins so that I could click and have I actually don't need any realistic effect, I will render big interior as a maquette (two materials, white paper and glass), and this should be rather a schematic structure.. but even in this case, still seems difficult to be achieved. I found 'snowflow plugin' that could fake this snowy/salty cover, but can't find it under max 2012..
RyderSK
I would say displacement from procedural noise pattern. You can mix different patterns (regular, fractal, cells...etc.. adjust them with curves, and get any sort of non-tiling interesting shapes, even more so if you nest these noises)
charlieinolas
thanks everyone for help. I'll give it a try with displacement maps, but for now I got this 'snow flow' to work.it seems that results are quite satisfactory. will have to tweak the settings probably. just clicked and have this: Edited November 10, 2013 by charlieinolas
